Seven Churches Pt.4 Thyatira

Join us as we continue our exploration of the letters to the seven churches of Revelation. This week we visit the ancient site of Thyatira and discover insights for living in the world today as followers of Christ

Scripture: Revelation 2:18-29

Meditation: *
“Whenever one is encompassed with clouds, perplexed by circumstances, or afflicted by poverty or distress, Satan is at hand to tempt and annoy. He attacks our weak points of character. He seeks to shake our confidence in God, who suffers such a condition of things to exist. We are tempted to distrust God, to question His love. Often the tempter comes to us as he came to Christ, arraying before us our weakness and infirmities. He hopes to discourage the soul, and to break our hold on God. Then he is sure of his prey. If we would meet him as Jesus did, we should escape many a defeat.” *Desire of Ages, p. 120, 121

Seven Churches Pt.3 Pergamum

Join Pastor Tara on our continuing journey through the history and practical applications found in the letters to the churches of Revelation. This week – Pergamum

Scripture: Revelation 2:12-17

Meditation:
“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” While we are not to know the hour of our Lord’s return, we may know when it is near. “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” 1 Thess. 5:4-6." Desire of Ages, p. 235

Seven Churches Pt.2 Smyrna

Scripture: Revelation 2:8-11

Join Pastor Tara as we journey on to the second church in our series on the Seven Churches of Revelation. Smyrna was a church under heavy persecution. Learn what God has to say when things are not going well for you in your journey of faith. There is a voice of encouragement in the midst of the trials.

“In the Revelation all the books of the Bible meet and end. Here is the complement of the book of Daniel. One is a prophecy; the other a revelation. The book that was sealed is not the Revelation, but that portion of the prophecy of Daniel relating to the last days. The angel commanded, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end.” Daniel 12:4. It was Christ who bade the apostle record that which was to be opened before him. “What thou seest, write in a book,” He commanded, “and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” “I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore. . . .” Acts of Apostles, p. 585

Freedom

Scripture: John 8:31-36

On this holiday we celebrate true Freedom. Join us as we explore God’s word and the freedom that He offers

“This law is the preserver of true freedom and liberty. It points out and prohibits those things that degrade and enslave, and thus to the obedient it affords protection from the power of evil. The psalmist says: “I will walk at liberty: for I seek Thy precepts.” “Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.” Psalm 119:45, 24." Education, p. 291

Seven Churches Pt.1 Ephesus

Scripture: Revelation 2:1-7

Letters to the Seven Churches Part One – Ephesus

A sermon series exploring what ancient letters and long buried archeology sites from the book of Revelation have to say to today’s church. In Acts 1:8 Jesus sends the disciples to take the good news of salvation to the ends of the earth by the power of the Holy Spirit. During this series with Pastor Tara VinCross, we’ll peer into ancient manuscripts and ruined cities to catch glimpses of the highs and lows, the growing pains and the challenges of the spread of the good news of Jesus Christ to the major urban centers of the world. As we do, we’ll discover what God has to say to us through these affirmations and warnings in the book of Revelation.

Meditation: “For over three years Ephesus was the center of Paul’s work. A flourishing church was raised up here, and from this city the gospel spread throughout the province of Asia, among both Jews and Gentiles… Amidst the constant storm of opposition, the clamor of enemies, and the desertion of friends the intrepid apostle almost lost heart. But he looked back to Calvary and with new ardor pressed on to spread the knowledge of the Crucified. He was but treading the blood-stained path that Christ had trodden before him.” Acts of Apostles, p. 291, 297
